I've been on a long hiatus from my blog, but this is one cafe that I felt like I HAVE TO write about, simply because I enjoyed my time there so much!
Finally managed to take time to visit Platform 1094, a Harry Potter/ magical inspired cafe in Singapore that will be sure to make any potterhead hyperventilate!
Tried to call some weeks back but I think they were too busy to answer my call, and when I finally called through the other morning, I quickly placed a reservation for 2PM (after lunch peak) that day!
Loving the details and all the efforts put into decorating the cafe, making sure it was in theme!
Extremely pleasing to the eyes I must say!
At Platform 1094, they do provide the wizard robes, ties, wands, round glasses, wizard hats and everything a wizard could possibly need!
But being the extra that I am, I actually wore my own shirt + knit top, brought my own tie which I'd bought from Universal Studios Orlando's The Wizarding World of Harry Potter... and brought along my own wands hahaha!
In my defence, based on the photos I saw on IG, I seriously thought everyone who went to the cafe brought their own props for photos okay.
I was just exceptionally enthusiastic about the things I like and wanted to make an effort, that's all LOL!
We ordered 2 mains, 1 side, 2 magical drinks, and 2 stunning desserts!
Total damage was $100+.
It's definitely on the pricey side, but personally I feel like it's one of those cafes you go on special occasions to take a lot of photos, to pamper yourselves and just have fun and not worry too much about the damage it does to your wallet, you know?
Food wise, I really really liked the crab pasta, so please do order that when you're there!
Their plated desserts were also very pretty and worth trying!
Check out the berry foam and wand chocolate deco, so much effort put into a dish!
Of course, a Harry Potter inspired cafe would definitely not miss out on Butterbeer (non-alcoholic)!
As one of their must-try drinks, the taste was sweet, yummy and extremely happiness-inducing.
They also have another signature drink that typically everyone goes over to Platform 1094 to try, which is the Flaming Brew (previously called the Goblet of Fire). More pictures of that later!
I guess you could say I'm a delusional 27-year-old auntie who likes to strut around in uniform inspired outfits... LOL!
This picture looks like I'm a newscaster... or just graduated from Hogwarts hahah!
And here it is!
Platform 1094's Flaming Brew!
It's heaps of fun, it tastes pleasant, very slightly alcoholic (but you won't get drunk, trust me), innovative and really cool!
Kudos to the cafe owners for creating this signature drink!
With so many gimmicky cafes sprouting up these days, I feel very thankful when I visit cafes that serve Instagrammable food & drinks which also tastes good!
I believe Platform 1094 is really deserving of their crowd, delivering a fun & tasty experience for all their customers, old and young alike!
Thank you for reading! :D
Till next time~

Attended the Unicorn Korean Buttercream Floral Crown Cake Workshop with Siew Lee the other day, courtesy of Butter Studio.
The workshop was a one day course, taught by Master Trainer Lucia, who came all the way from Korea!
This pretty lady is only a year older than me, but well-equipped with years of experience in cake decorating, and is one of the most impressive pastry chefs I've met in real life!
I felt so honoured to have been able to attend her class!! ^~^
Master Trainer Lucia's Instagram:
First, she taught us some tips and tricks on how to frost the crumb-coated red velvet cake (provided by Butter Studio) as perfectly as possible.
I was struggling at this, but thankfully I had Siew Lee with me haha!
Siew Lee is the CDP at Boufe Boutique Cafe and she's a lot more zai than I am, so she contributed a lot to our cake xD
Before Lucia taught us how to pipe the buttercream flowers, Siew Lee and I went over to take a closer look at her Unicorn Cake first!
I really can't believe these aren't real flowers omg.
I've seen fondant flowers and buttercream flowers on cupcakes before, but nothing comes close to this standard!! :O
They really look super soft and realistic, I'd never imagined they could be piped with buttercream!
Super thrilled to be able to impart some of Lucia's amazing skills through this workshop! ^~^
Lucia's so steady and confident, there were no hesitations in her moves.
She looks cool even when she's mixing the colouring into the buttercream!
We were taught colour studies, which colours to mix to achieve the perfect tones, recommended colours for different flowers etc.
In our one-day workshop, lunch was also included and provided by Butter Studio!
I had their Godfather Burger, an awe-inspiring name for a burger, and Siew Lee ordered the Mexican Wrestler.
I thought the Mexican Wrestler was really yummy cause of the refreshing Mexican spices they used!
The servings were really generous, and I also enjoyed my lunch with their Hot Nutella drink :P
Butter Studio also sells an assortment of cupcakes & whole cakes.
Among which, this Lychee Rose cake caught our eye!
The dainty rose buds added a beautiful touch to this light, fragrant cake that filled our mouths with the aroma of rose with each bite!
After lunch and it was back to piping!!! Let's go!
I wish I could just stay at pipe for three whole days so I can improve more hahah!
The ambiance of the place was fantastic and extremely conducive, I'd definitely want to be back at Butter Studio for more workshops, especially if it's taught by Lucia! :)
Lucia taught us 6 different flowers in total, and patiently held our hands to pipe some of them!!
She's extremely sweet and patient with all of us, and I'm so thankful to Lucia that I could even pipe some decent flowers with zero experience prior :D
We looked around at the other students' flowers and some of theirs were so uniformed in size and soooo pretty we were like "omg do we suck or what?" :X
And then I went over to one of the ladies and asked if it was her first time, and was honestly quite relieved to learn from her that she's been to Lucia's workshop in SG a year ago, and now she's back to learn more!
Hopefully Siew Lee and I can become really good at this after more practice too! :)
After we were done with piping as many beautiful flowers as we can, it was time to adorn our cakes with them!
Lucia demonstrated recommended placements of different flowers for the optimal look, the technique of transferring the flowers onto the cake, and tricks to keep them stable and not fall off!
And then it was hands-on time for us! ^~^
Added the final touches of gold to the eyes of the Unicorn Cake!
Couldn't stop taking pictures of all our beautiful Floral Crown Unicorn Cake creations as they lined up neatly on the table! :D
Once again, thank you soooo much Master Trainer Lucia & Butter Studio for organizing this!
I had a ton of fun & it was an extremely fruitful day of learning for all of us.
I'd definitely look forward to joining more workshops in future because there's simply so much more for me to learn! :D
And YAY because we got to bring our cakes back to eat. It was delicious, and even the buttercream tasted good! :P
For those who are keen, you can find more information or sign up for workshops at Butter Studio's Facebook or IG page, and hopefully we can be in the same classes some time too! :)
Please enjoy the pictures! ^~^
Thank you for reading!

THE PLACE TO BE THIS CHRISTMAS - Universal Studios Singapore!
Apart from the usual fun rides and beautiful Christmas decorations (as expected of USS), they've also planned an exciting list of activities and exhibitions just for us to enjoy this festive season!
To mention a few:
• Santa's Village with the shoemaker, Mrs Claus' house, a little toy factory which the kids would love
• DJ Eddy Elf’s Rocking Radio Station
• Christmas Everywhere, where there will be hourly snowfall every day from 12PM
• Meet and Greet our favourite characters whom are all dressed up for Christmas
• Record-breaking Universal Journey
& many more!
And less than 10 minutes into USS, Sean actually volunteered me up on stage with DJ Eddy Elf & Woody Woodpecker for a Carol-oke hahah!
I was totally caught off guard omg :X
For those who feel bummed out that your friends/ relatives get to go overseas for Christmas while you're here in Singapore, don't be!
There's snowfall every hour at USS from 12PM onwards, and it's pretty fun too!
When we're walking around USS and it "snows" it always gives you a happy feeling haha.
And of course the highLIGHT of this whole trip to USS, the
824,961 light bulbs, 8 themed zones, and a Guinness World Records to boast of.
You seriously HAVE TO bring along your camera/ charge your phone sufficiently for this!!
The whole place is sooooo pretty, I'd totally pay for a ticket to USS, not take any of the rides, just to see this~~~~ *_*
Brace yourselves, tons of photos coming up!

Experimented with NYX's eyeshadows and coloured lipstick in an attempt to do a wearable cosmic themed make up, inspired by Boufe Boutique Cafe's new Milky Way cake.
Also, I couldn't resist adding some sparkly glitter "freckles" under my eyes and across my cheeks!

With Boufe's in-house made one, I could eat them all day cause they really just melt in your mouth~~
As simple as it may look/ sound, these Almond Biscuits are actually really really good!
Made with fresh ingredients and no artificial flavourings, each bite is a burst of ground almond fragrance.
I finished the entire bottle in one day cause it's so light, crispy and easy to eat, and it doesn't hurt my teeth :P
I've always been quite confident of how yummy the brownies I bake are, and always secretly think my brownies are nicer than a lot of other cakey brownies out there LOL :X
I think this is the first Brownie I put into my mouth and like "wow, this is good" hahahaha!!
It's fudgey and rich, just the way I like it, and while it's not the chewy sort, it melts in your mouth - a texture I've never experienced with other brownies before.
So I definitely give this a thumbs up and strongly recommend this, especially if you have a sweet tooth!

I recently followed @kotobukisg on Instagram and am extremely impressed with their festive feast's aesthetics, so you could imagine how thrilled I was when I received their invitation to try it out!
The festive feast serves 3 - 4pax, is only $82 (worth $138), and contains the following:
Kotobuki’s Premium Mosaic Art Sushi
Deluxe Sashimi Premium Platter
Tempura mix platter
The Mosaic Art Sushi is the first of its kind I've seen in Singapore and it's simply tooooo pretty to be eaten!
Plus the sashimi was all really fresh and sweet, my family and I left the place immensely satisfied!
Thank you Kotobuki Izakaya at Wisma Atria once again for the invite!
Stärker Fresh Beer @ Zhongshan Park
1 Jalan Rajah
#01-02, ZhongShan Park
Stärker Fresh Beer at Zhongshan Park is probably one of the most chill places I've ever been to, and I can foresee myself hanging out there quite often!
The welcoming ambience with the warm lighting, interior deco showcasing their pride in serving quality fresh beer, comfortable seatings, beautiful alfresco area beside a large field (pet-friendly!), and efficient service makes it the ideal place for your Christmas parties!
Don't fuss yourselves with cooking this Christmas. Pamper yourselves & enjoy the day fully with the Christmas menu Stärker has to offer!
The portions of the platters at Stärker are not only generous and perfect for sharing, but tastes really amazing too!
We actually couldn't finish the food and asked to pack the remaining home and guess what? It's still really yummy the next day hahah!
If you haven't already done so, please read Part One of this post, "Where to go/ What to do in Aichi" here:
What's a trip without truly enjoying the local favourites & specialty dishes, right? :D
In this post, I'll be sharing some of the best food we've had in Aichi, some interesting dishes you should check out on your trip there, plus where we stayed at/ the hotels we visited to give you some suggestions of accommodation! :)
1. UNAGI DON - SANSUITEI, NISHIO CITY
Our first lunch stop in Aichi and oh my goodness this left the deepest impression ever!
Have you ever had Unagi (Grilled Eel) Don with TWO LAYERS of Unagi in it?
It's so extravagant, and the portion so incredibly generous, we were all at a loss of words!
I don't think we'll ever find this type of servings anywhere else!
Not to mention cultured eels are Nishio City's specialty produce, and so you can expect only the best of the best!
Fresh, sweet, chewy, thick strips of Unagi, with a touch of smoky aroma from the grill!
On the table, you will also find a pot of sauce for you to add onto your rice should you require more.
We were also recommended by Yoshie-san (our guide) to add mountain pepper to the rice to give it a more unique spicy flavour. This did not taste anything like our ordinary pepper. I love it! :D
We also enjoyed the meal with a rare eel liver soup (tasted yummy!), and a rich Matcha Soft Serve for dessert! :P
Sansuitei seriusly set the bar for Unagi dons really high up for me, I don't think I'm ever going to be easily satisfied with any other unadons ever again.
For those who LOVEEEE Unagi dons, this is actually worth traveling to Aichi for!
Plus, the outdoors area features quite a picturesque field!
2. CLAMs themed MEAL (LOCAL CUISINE) - Gamagori Orange Park
We also had some of their local cuisine with a wide range of dishes cooked with fresh clams.
Clam steamed rice - adding a natural sweetness to the rice, clam soup, an assortment of appetisers made with clams... and interestingly, they all tasted very different in their own ways, such that you don't ever get sick of it!
I'm actually missing the clam soup we had now.. so refreshing, light and tasty!
At the Gamagori Orange Park, you can also enjoy fruit picking all year round!
Had fun picking mikans despite the slight drizzle! Food that comes with some effort usually taste a whole lot better :D
3. MISO-KATSU - YABATON RESTAURANT, NAGOYA
When in Nagoya, you definitely can't miss out on Nagoya's specialty miso-katsu!
The tangy miso sauce with the katsu is quite the matchmade in heaven combination.
Crispy katsu, salty-sweet miso with a bowl of piping hot, fragrant Japanese rice? Yes please!
The Japanese love miso so much, one of the ways a guy could propose to a girl would be "Would you like to cook Miso soup for me everyday?"
So cute one!!!
4. SINPUKUJI TEMPLE - OKAZAKI CITY
At one of the temples we visited in Aichi, we were served an extremely unique lunch set made of all bamboo dishes cooked differently!
The entire meal was super refreshing, and relatively subtle tasting compared to the other meals we've had in Japan, but it was quite a nice change of course!
Also found this empty & zen-looking dining area at the temple and quickly posed for a photo! :P
5. KAISEKI - Hotel takeshima, gamagori city
Kaiseki, a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner, is a must have when you're visiting the country!
The price range may be slightly more pricey, but for the experience of it, I'd say please try it at least once in your life.
For our Kaiseki dinner, we were recommended to wear a Yukata, and were served very efficiently by the very sweet and helpful staff at Hotel Takeshima our dinner courses!
Due to the number of dishes, we all ended up completely stuffed, but most of us managed to eat all of the food served because they all tasted so good!
What I enjoyed most out of this Kaiseki dinner was the Salmon grilled with Hatcho Miso on a Magnolia leaf, and the Yuzu roll cake (served with aloe vera jelly) we had at the end of the meal.
They're probably on my list of "best tasting food in the world" right now!
We asked the staff if the Yuzu cake was on sale but they said it wasn't, regrettably~~
Hotel wise, if you're looking for a place with traditional feels and tatami mat for accommodation, complete with Onsen experience, Hotel Takeshima is the place you'd need to stay at!
The view we had the next morning of the island was fantastic as well!
6. LE PARADIS - MEITETSU INUYAMA HOTEL, INUYAMA CITY
Stopped over at this super fancy French restaurant Le Paradis at Meitetsu Inuyama Hotel for dinner and it was there that we all sat down, chit-chatted, laughed, and just chilled cause we had the whole restaurant to ourselves since we arrived early it wasn't the dinner rush hour yet!
We got to know each other more while indulging in a super high grade of Hida beef, Smoked Salmon & more!
It's true that food really bonds people together!
7. Irago View hotel, tahara city
Our home for the first night in Aichi, Irago View hotel is one of the more traditionally decorated hotels with a splendid buffet selection for Dinner & Breakfast to offer!
Think clam soup, odango, beef slices, and fresh sashimi for breakfast!
Coincidentally, I also won the lucky draw during our Exchange Party during the trip for a stay at Irago View Hotel!
Which means I'll probably be back in Aichi again next year at Irago View hahah!
I loved the view of the beach side in the morning~
This hotel is just minutes' drive away from Irago Cape & Lover's Beach.
8. Hilton nagoya hotel, nagoya city
One word - WOW.
Nothing less than what you'd expect from Hilton hotel standards.
Service wise, cleanliness, decor, safety, everything was so on point. Zero complaints!
I actually have a fear of sleeping alone, but I slept SOOOOOOO soundly at Hilton Nagoya, I was exclaiming to my mum over whatsapp "Hilton Hotel is the best!!!"
They even prepared some thoughtful snacks, gifts, ice cold beer, and a hand written card upon our arrival.
I feel the love, thank you so much!!! T~T
We also had our Exchange Party/ Networking Session on the last day of our trip at Hilton Nagoya, and were entertained by Samurai performances, taught how to properly eat Aichi's signature fried chicken wings, exchanged contacts with many suppliers, and also the much-anticipated lucky draw at the end hahah!
As mentioned above, I won a stay at Irago View Hotel!
Thank you so much!!
Also, the breakfast spread at Hilton Nagoya left such a deep impression!
I've never had such delicious noodles at hotel's breakfast buffets before.
The Kishimen they served was so chewy and the noodle broth so tasty, I think I had 3 servings of it the next morning, LOL!
If you're the type who prefers a modern hotel for your trip, and cleanliness is one of your main concerns staying at hotels, you can't go wrong with Hilton!
9. Gamagori classic hotel, gamagori city
We didn't get to check in at Gamagori Classic Hotel, but we did do a tour around the place and had our Tourism Information Session there.
The place looked kind of like a traditional castle, so pretty!
Surrounded by a spectacular view all around, the hotel also boasts of a fully functional old school lift in the lobby, a classy restaurant and what not!
Lots of tourists who go to Japan usually go to Tokyo, Osaka, Hokkaido and the likes.
But not many tourists know about Aichi, geographically located in the heart of Japan yet!
Baking in its rich culture, and with a proud level of technology to balance off, Aichi should definitely be part of your considerations for your next trip to Japan!
So glad I got to learn more about this beautiful place on this trip, and I hope that my post can provide some suggestions on food/ accommodation/ things to do in Aichi for you guys too! :)
